
Kidnapped Tanzanian billionaire’s family offers cash reward
The family of kidnapped Tanzanian businessman Mohamed Dewji has offered a cash reward for information that will lead to locating him.
Dewji’s family on Monday announced a one billion Tanzanian shillings ($437,065) cash reward to anyone with information that will lead to his rescue.
In the first briefing to the media since he was abducted on Thursday last week, family spokesman Azim Dewji said all information would be kept confidential.
We are greatly touched by efforts by many groups and individuals to help find our son. To add to these efforts, we are announcing a reward of Tsh1 billion to any information that may lead to finding his whereabouts,” Azim is quoted by Tanzanian paper The Citizen.
Dewji or ‘Mo’ as he is popularly known was abducted early Thursday morning as he went for his routine gym session at Oyster Bay in Dar es Salaam.
30 people have already been arrested in connection to the kidnapping and are assisting Tanzanian police with the investigations.
Dewji, is the chief executive officer of the MeTL Group, a Tanzanian business conglomerate, and is listed as one of the youngest billionaires in Africa.
