Kenya’s baby care boxes seek to lower infant mortality rates

Read < 1 minute

Expectant mothers in Kenya are being given baby care boxes to encourage them to give birth in hospitals.

The boxes known as Toto Care are like starter kits, containing products essential for the well-being of newborns. Mothers have to complete at least four focused antenatal care clinics before they can get them. Those behind the initiative hope the boxes will help reduce the number of infant deaths.

CGTN’s Susan Mwongeli reports.
