Three Kenyan men have been sentenced to death for attacking, stripping and robbing a woman in a bus three years ago.

The death sentence was imposed after the three were convicted of robbery with violence. A further sentence of 25 years was given for stripping the woman.

Nairobi chief magistrate Francis Andayi said the attack was a “senseless and uncouth act that they seemed to enjoy because they were cheering as they stripped the woman”, local media outlet Nation reports.

The news of the ruling has spread fast across the East African country, eliciting different reactions on social media.

The ever vocal Kenyans on Twitter have flocked the platform to air their opinions on the ruling handed to bus driver Nicholas Mwangi, touts Meshack Mwangi and Edward Ndung’u.

While most are happy with the ruling, some have different opinions. Here are some tweets we found for you;

Joseph thinks the sentence is much deserved for their crime.

Cornelius supports the ruling. Thinks it will serve as a good example to others.

Dennis seemed to think the three are a victim of ignorance.

Victor seems to disagree. Blames the ruling on society being unfair to the boy child.

Opuk however seems to say perpetrators of graft in the country remain untouched.

Searle seems to agree with Opuk on perpetrators of graft still having their freedom.
