Kenya’s Garissa University College has reopened, nine months after Islamists militant group al-Shabaab attacked it, killing 147 people and injuring 79 others, in a siege that lasted for several hours.
The university located in the north eastern region of the country had remained closed following the attack, with the students relocated to other campuses.
A memo to the institution’s staff members and students stated that an academic board meeting would take place following the reopening.
The French government pledged to pay fees for 109 students who survived the attack, for one academic year.
