The ParaVolley Federation of Kenya has been blacklisted by the Sport’s Governing body over nonpayment of part membership totaling 177 US Dollars.

In a letter, the President of the World ParaVolley Barry Couzner says the East African nation will also forfeit all results from the recently concluded Zonal Championships in Rwanda.

“This month’s final bank statement provided by the World ParaVolley Treasurer to the General Manager and Finance Committee showed that no payment has been received. Consequently, Kenya have been officially declared by the International Federation to be ‘not in good standing’, as retrospectively applicable from before start of the Zonal Championships”, read part of the letter seen by CGTN.

The move follows Kenya’s failure to honour its promise to settle the full membership fees for 2016 and 2017. The country now een blacklisted from organizing or entering World ParaVolley. Kenya has also been excluded from ParaVolley Africa events and from any international matches.

Top federation and Kenyan ministry officials are expected to deliberate on the latest move bedeviling the federation, whose athletes recently staged a sit-in at the country’s sports federation demanding to be facilitated to compete at the Zonal Championships.

If the outstanding fees as well as the 2018 full membership fees are not paid, the world World ParaVolley says Kenyan athletes will be barred from competing at the World Championships Final Qualifier to be held on Jeju Islandin South Korea, 27th March – 1st April 2018.
