Kenyan President William Ruto has announced a major shakeup in the leadership of the country’s security agencies.

Kenya’s Inspector General of the National Police Service Eng. Japheth Koome resigned on Friday. He’ll be replaced in the interim by Douglas Kanja, who previously served as the police service’s Deputy-Inspector General. Kanja will serve as acting Inspector-General until a permanent one is appointed.

Patrick Mwiti Arandu takes over as the new Commissioner General of the Kenya Prisons Service. Mr. Arandu takes over from Brigadier (Rtd) John Warioba, who is proceeding on terminal leave pending the end of his tenure of office.
