Kenyan long-distance runner Salome Biwott suspended for doping

The Athletics Integrity Unit on Tuesday announced that Kenyan long-distance runner Salome Jerono Biwott had been provisionally suspended for violating the anti-doping rules of the International Association of Athletics Federations.
The AIU said that Biwott tested positive for the banned substance Norandrosterone.
Biwott recently finished second in the Sao Paulo Marathon in a time of 2:37:33 in April.
This is not the first time that Biwott is being sanctioned for doping. In March 2013, Kenya’s athletics body, Athletics Kenya, announced that Biwott and compatriot Jynocel Basweti Onyancha had both been suspended for two years following positive tests for banned substances. Biwott’s suspension then took effect from January 25 2013 to January 25 2015.
Biwott is the fifth Kenyan to be provisionally suspended by the AIU since December last year for doping violations.
In April this year, World Half Marathon record holder Abraham Kiptum and Cyrus Rutto were provisionally suspended after failing a dope test. They were both charged for Use of a Prohibited Substance/Method (Article 2.2) – ABP case.
