Read < 1 minute

The Kenyan government has given the United Nations three months to move the Dadaab refugee camp which is on the country’s border with Somalia. The authorities claim Al Shabaab Militants have been using the camp, which mainly hosts Somali refugees, as a hideout before launching attacks. The decision announced by Kenya’s deputy President William Ruto comes after 148 people were killed in Garissa University in the country’s East. The government has vowed to radically reform the country’s security apparatus and change Kenya’s approach to regional issues, so as to safeguard the country’s security. Al-Shabaab have claimed responsibility for the attack which is the worst since the August 1998 US embassy bombing in Nairobi, in which 213 people were killed.
