A pregnant university student, who went missing after a Nation Media Group journalist was abducted for pursuing a story implicating Kenyan Governor Okoth Obado of Migori county in a love triangle, was found dead.

Detectives on Tuesday arrested Michael Oyamo, the personal assistant of Migori Governor Okoth Obado, in connection with the abduction of Nation journalist Barrack Oduor and a university student.

The body of the 26-year-old university student was discovered on Wednesday morning in Kodera Forest, Migori County.

According to DCI George Kinoti, no one will be spared as his team investigates who or what caused the death of Sharon Otieno.

Earlier, the Government Spokesman Eric Kiraithe said the State would investigate the case expeditiously.

The office of Migori County Governor Okoth Obado has rubbished claims linking him to the abduction of Barack Oduor and the late Sharon Otieno.

According to Migori County communications boss Nicholas Anyuor, the allegations are meant to damage the reputation of the Governor.

He further demanded that the media refrain from associating Obado with unsubstantiated claims that he allegedly impregnated and abandoned the university student.

There has been a social media social media uproar with the hashtag #JusticeForSharonOtieno with members of the public claiming impunity of government officials.

Garissa Governor Ali Korane was also arrested  recently over attack on former county Finance minister Idris Aden Mkutar in Nairobi.
