A Kenyan couple have been the biggest trend in the country over the past two days, becoming internet sensations in Africa as well, after photos of their simple wedding went viral online.

The two lovebirds, Wilson Wanjohi Mutura and Ann Muhonja, held the simplest of weddings, spending just 100 Kenyan shillings (about $1), on their wedding rings alone.

According to Wilson, he couldn’t afford money to hold a lavish wedding, but that could not stop him from wedding his girlfriend.

Having just $2 on his wedding day, the fruit-hawker used the remaining $1 to pay for their first supper as a married couple.

In the pictures, unlike the usual wedding regalia, the pair is seen dressed in simple T-shirts, with the bride matching hers with a jeans skirt.

Social media users in the East African country and Africa at large filled social sites with praise for the two, lauding their love and courage.

Following the success of their event, well-wishers who fell in love with their show of love have made offers to the couple, ranging from an all-expenses paid wedding to a honeymoon to a destination of their choice.

The offers so far include;

A fully sponsored wedding.

An all-expenses paid honeymoon package.

Make-up and free photo-shoot on Valentine’s Day.

Capital for a small business, whichever Ann will find appealing.

The two lovebirds who met three years ago will now have another chance to celebrate their union with their families and friends in a more lavish way.
