Kenyan Afro-pop band Sauti Sol nominated for BET awards 2015

Kenya Afro-pop band, Sauti Sol continues to make a name for their hard work with the latest being a nomination for the BET awards 2015 in the Best International Act, Africa category.

The band which consists of four gentlemen namely; Bien-Aime Baraza, Willis Austin Chimano, Polycarp Otieno ans Savara Mudigi is the only East African Act to be nominated for the awards this year.

Sauti Sol recently won the Best African Act MTV EMA 2014 and were nominees for Best Worldwide Act.

They have They have two albums, Mwanzo (2008) and Sol Filosofi plus a self-titled EP produced in collaboration South African producer Spoek Mathambo. Their third album ‘Live and Die in Afrika’ is set to be released later this year.

The band has been nominated alongside other African artists; Dr Congo’s Fally Pupa, Ghana’s Sarkodie, Nigeria’s  Wizkid and Yemi Alade, The Soil and AKA from South Africa.

Last year Nigerian artist Davido won in the Best International Act Africa category at the BET awards with Kenya actress Lupita Nyong’o winning the Best Actress award.

This year’s winners will be announced on June 28th at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles .
