Kenya will not go back on its plan to shut the world’s biggest refugee camp, the country’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has assured US President Barack Obama.

According to a statement from the Kenyan statehouse, President Kenyatta spoke on phone with his US counterpart, assuring him that the refugees’ return to Somalia would be done in an orderly and humane manner.

The two leaders also discussed US support of Somalia in helping create an environment safe enough for the return of the refugees.

The announcement comes just a day after neighbouring Uganda said it would withdraw its troops from Somalia, citing frustrations from the Somali army and military advisers from the US, UK and Turkey.
