Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted Tanzania’s President Jakaya Kikwete in Nairobi State House earlier Monday for bilateral talks.

During the launch, African Development Bank said it had given USD 218 million for the construction of the road and the upgrading of the Arusha-Holili section. Kenya received USD 116 million while Tanzania received USD 102 million (Ksh 10 billion).
The two countries agreed to scale up cooperation in the war against terrorism, drug trafficking and poaching.
President Kikwete called for all avenues that lead to radicalization of the youths to be closed and mechanisms that will make it difficult for drug barons to peddle their wares put in place.

The states also affirmed commitment to forge closer ties in trade and economic development. Speaking during the talks , President Kenyatta said that governments can create the necessary environment for investment but it was also important for the business community to step in.

President Kikwete is set to address a joint Parliamentary sitting of National Assembly and the Senate later in the day.
