Kenya police identify suspected kidnappers of Italian woman, offer reward

The Kenya Police has offered a Ksh1 million ($9,750) reward for information leading to their arrest of three suspects behind the kidnapping of an Italian from the coastal town of Kilifi.
Police boss Joseph Boinnet in a statement said investigations had narrowed down on Ibrahim Adan Omar, Yusuf Kuno Adan and Said Adan Abdi as the main suspects of the kidnapping.
“We consequently appeal to the public to inform the nearest police officer or station should they see any of the three persons for further action,” Boinnet said.
Silvia Costanza Romano, 23, was seized on Wednesday from a coastal community by gunmen who also wounded five people, including children.
The gang that was armed with AK 47 rifles attacked Chakama Trading Centre at around 8pm.
The attackers shot indiscriminately at residents including children during the Tuesday night incident.
Such kidnapping cases have been rare in Kenya since 2011 when the government deployed forces to neighboring Somalia in a bid to stop the al-Shabab extremist group from kidnapping foreigners.
