Kenya looks to Israel to increase forest cover

Kenyas President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed the Kenya Forestry Service (KFS) to partner with an Israeli organization to increase forest cover in Kenya.

President Kenyatta who was speaking at the Grove of the Nations in Jerusalem day said KFS and the Foreign Ministry should sign an agreement with Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael Jewish National Fund (KKL- JNF).

“I ask the forestry service and the foreign ministry to fast-track the Memorandum of Understanding to gain from the great strides Israel has made on environment,” President Kenyatta said.

KKL-JNF are specialist in reclaiming dry land and deserts ecosystems and have been instrumental of increasing the forest cover in Israel.
