Kenya government freezes 86 accounts used to finance Al shabaab

In an effort to deal with terrorism, the Kenyan government  has frozen 86 entities and individual accounts suspected of financing Al shabaab activities in the country.

The government has accused the Somali Hawalas of funding Al Shabaab terror activities. It also suspended 13 Forex exchange bureau in the country.

The Kenyan intelligence said that hawalas system is used to move millions of shillings around the world on a daily basis is used to fund Al shabaab terror activities.

The 86 entities are now on the government watchlist.
