Kenya’s finance minister Henry Rotich,PS Kamau Thugge in court
Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich,his colleague in the finance ministry Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge alongside other key government officials arrived in a Nairobi court in Kenya’s capital Tuesday morning.
The officials were arrested on Monday after the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji ordered their arrest in a corruption related scandal involving embezzlement of millions of dollars meant for the construction of dams in the country’s Rift Valley region.
Haji in a statement on Monday said Mr Rotich was part of a scheme to defraud by arranging contracts “riddled with massive illegalities”. The minister has in the past denied the claims.
