Kenyan Defense Forces on Thursday killed four suspected Al-Shabaab militants and arrested one after a bus attack in Lamu County in Kenya.

Coast Regional Coordinator John Elungata gave the report just hours after the ambush in Nyongoro, a hotspot for Al-Shabaab attacks targeted at passenger vehicles and security agencies.

Three people were killed while three others were seriously injured when suspected al-Shabaab militants attacked the bus on Thursday morning.

According to Count Commissioner Irungu Macharia, the identity of those killed and injured is yet to be known.

Security forces have been deployed in the area and its surroundings in pursuit of the attackers.

Thursday’s attack comes at a time when the government is conducting a multi-agency security operation dubbed ”Linda Boni” in counties bordering the Kenya-Somalia border including Lamu, Garissa and Tana River.
