Kenya and Uganda’s presidents, together with oil company executives are all currently holding discussions in Nairobi, on a route for a pipeline to transport oil from the two countries.
The Northern Corridor link will cover 1,120 kilometres and its construction is estimated to create some 15,000 jobs.
But there are speculations that Uganda has already struck an agreement with Tanzania to construct an oil pipeline to transport expected Uganda oil through the neighbouring country.
Last week, Tanzania said that Total Oil Company, which has a stake in Uganda’s crude oil discoveries, had set aside 4 billion dollars to build a pipeline from Ugandan fields to the Tanzanian coast.
