Kenya Airways has resumed its full schedule flights to Tanzania after an agreement between the two countries was reached.
This follows talks between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Tanzania’s Jakaya Kikwete over the weekend.
Kenya Airways had reduced its number of flights to Tanzania following a directive by Tanzania’s aviation authority.
The frequency to Dar es Salaam reduced from 42 to 14 a week from March 19, while daily flights to the city went down from five to two.
Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed says Kenya Airways flight frequency to Tanzania will return to 42 times a week and Tanzanian tour vans will be allowed to access the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as talks between the two nations continue.

It was also agreed that the Kenyan and Tanzanian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Tourism and Transport will converge in Dar es Salaam, together with Kenyatta and Kikwete’s Chiefs of Staff, to find a long term solution to the grievances that led to the flight reduction and airport ban.
Kenya’s ban on Tanzanian registered vehicles at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has also been lifted.
Kenya’s tourism ministry had barred Tanzanian registered vehicles from accessing JKIA while the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority had reduced the frequency of Kenya Airways flights operating between the 2 countries.
All the issues have been resolved effectively unlocking a dispute that was threatening relations between Kenya and Tanzania.
