Italy’s Foreign Minister to visit Angola

Italy’s Foreign Minister Paolo Gentilioni will visit Angola this year in a move to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Gentilioni’s will visit the southern African nation upon the invitation of his Angolan counterpart Georges Chikoti.

Chikoti offered the invitation to Gentilioni on the side-lines of the first Italy-Africa Ministerial Conference.

The visit, whose the date will be agreed through diplomatic channels, may happen late July or early August, at a time the parties will also address the official visit still later this year of the Italian head of State to Angola.

During the meeting, the Angolan Foreign Minister thanked Paolo Gentilioni for the invitation extended to him to attend the Italy-Africa Ministerial conference.

Georges Chikoti reiterated Angola’s support for the candidacy of Italy to the UN Security Council for 2017/18.
