International exhibition “Gateway to Space” comes to Johannesburg
South Africans won’t have to travel far to get a taste of space, thanks to the Gateway to Space.
The internationally acclaimed exhibition has just landed in Johannesburg and is giving people a glimpse into what it’s like to travel into space.
Visitors at the exhibition see models of Sputnik 1 (the first satellite), the Lunar rover, a space shuttle cockpit and more.
There is also real space food (no word yet if there are any taste tests…) and rocks from the moon. All in, there are 60 vestiges from space exploration as well as interactive displays.
Gateway to Space introduces audiences to the people, technologies and circumstances that paid passage for human dreams to enter the realities of suborbital flight, moon missions and sustained life in space.
The exhibition offers an impressive collection of hardware to enlighten and engage visitors while instilling a sense of awe.
