Hip Hop Mogul P Diddy arrested for assault

Jail records show Diddy – whose real name is Sean Combs – was released on bail on Monday evening.

Rapper and hip hop mogul,  Sean “P.Diddy” Combs has been arrested  on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon at the college campus where his son plays football.

Police said the 45-year-old was held at the University of California Los Angeles campus after an incident involving a kettlebell, a weight with a handle, which is used for weight training.

Celebrity website TMZ, citing unnamed sources, said the star was involved in an argument with a team coach at the campus’ athletic facility.

Combs’ son Justin is on the college football team on a scholarship.

The bail posted was $160,000.

Officials did not identify the victim of the assault or say what led to the incident.

In a statement, campus police said no-one was seriously injured and that police are conducting investigations.

P.Diddy’s son is a redshirt junior defensive back and has been working out on campus.

UCLA football coach Jim Mora described it as an “unfortunate incident for all parties involved”.

He said: “While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time.”

Combs is a hip hop artist, actor, entrepreneur and founder of Bad Boy Records. Forbes last year listed his earnings at $60m (£37.9m).
