A military helicopter has crashed on the outskirts of Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, killing all 18 people on board, state broadcaster FANA reports.

The plane was heading to town just outside Addis Ababa from Dire Dawa city in eastern Ethiopia when it came down.

According to local reports, the 18 people killed in the crash include 15 soldiers and three civilians.

The cause of the crash is still unknown, though local media report that the helicopter caught fire mid-air.

Investigators and a search-and-recovery team have been dispatched to the area, officials say.
