Nearly half a million people are infected with malaria in this capital, revealed the Angolan Health Minister, Luis Gomes.
‘The vector mosquito density remains very high. The Health Ministry carried out a research that showed a larvae rate of 5 percent and in Luanda municipalities they are in 40 percent, what leads to declare that it is facing an epidemic’, told Gomes during a press conference.
He noted that despite the measures taken by the State against trashes, they are still insufficient to produce the expected results. The Rubbish, poor sanitation and stagnant water are the main causes of deaths from yellow fever and malaria.”
With regard to malaria, he noted that so far the number of cases compared to the first three months of last year is higher. ‘Nearly half a million people should be infected with malaria’ he reiterated.
He called to improve environmental hygiene and care in health centers so you can reduce the death rate from malaria and yellow fever.
The official also reported that “more than 30 million dollars are available by the Executive, with a view to strengthening human resources capacity in hospitals’.
