The lone attacker that killed five policemen in a Kenyan police station has been killed by the country’s elite Recce Squad after almost eight hours.

The man identified as Omar Eumod is said to have been a primary school teacher in one of the local schools.

He had been arrested on suspicion of being a recruiter for Somalia-based Islamists terror group al-Shabaab.

He snatched a gun from one of the officers who was doing a routine check, before killing five policemen that were in the station at the time.

The siege began at around 0330GMT and ended at about 1200GMT.

Eumod was to be arraigned in court on today over terror related charges.

Local media outlet Standard Media reports that he had been to Somalia where he is believed to have been radicalized.
