Ghana’s police administration will reward a brave officer, Lance Corporal, for gunning down two armed robbers after a fierce gun battle to reclaim stolen cash amounting to 139,760 USD, reports Citi FM.

The policeman took down the robbers as they tried to get away after attacking a cocoa purchasing clerk who had just withdrawn the huge sum of money from a bank to distribute to other clerks in Ashanti region in south Ghana.

Lance Corporal was quick to grab a weapon and stop a land cruiser to pursue the thugs after receiving information that the robbers had gotten away on motorbikes after stealing the money. The robbers run into a house when the police caught up with the Taxi they had commandeered after their motorcycles busted their tyres. It was in the house that they were captured.

“They(robbers) then exchanged fire with the policeman who miraculously sneaked from the car and went behind the robbers and entered a resident’s bedroom and shot the robbers from the bedroom instantly killing both of them. Then the money was retrieved. It was subsequently given to the district commander and later handed over to the cocoa marketing board,” said Konongo Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Ohene Boadi Bossman.

Superintendent Bossman further said that the police administration will reward Lance for his bravery, but failed to mention how.
