Professional football players are known to live lavish lifestyles, wanting the best and what they think is worth their time playing for high profile football clubs world over.

Their lifestyles demands high salaries and major benefits.

Reports say that these demands are the ones that denied one African footballer Gervinho who plays in international league a chance to move clubs.

These were the alleged demands made by Ivory Coast footballer Gervinho who plays for AS Roma to a club that wants him in the Emirates: ‘a helicopter and a private beach’ if at all he was to play for Club Al Jazira in the Gulf.

Sources say that move may be off because the club thought Gervinho demands were ridiculous according to reports in Italy. But reports say the player has denied making such ludicrous demands saying he’s only heard this information from the media. Al -Jazira officials have also denied the reports saying they put off negotiations with the player on technical grounds. According to ESPN FC website,Gervinho said, “I read of helicopters, private beaches and plane tickets. I have no idea where that information comes from, but I have never demanded such things.

“When I sign a contract I don’t care about those things: everything that has been said about me is false.”

Al-Jazira officials on their side said,  “We confirm that we stopped negotiating with Gervinho but this was purely because of technical details and not because of the player’s demands, as reported by some online sources.”

The 28-year-old Ivorian was subject to a €13 million (Dh53.3 million) move from Serie A to the Arabian Gulf League but the four-year deal fell through after the Abu Dhabi club cited “obscene and excessive demands”.

Reports in Italy say that on top of a €4.5 million annual salary he asked for a helicopter and a private beach, as well jobs and housing for his entourage and an unknown number of plane tickets to and from his native Ivory Coast.

Reports say that Al Jazira officials had lamented the players demands saying they could not meet them. Gervinho is now expected to return to pre-season with AS Roma as usual, but the Italian giants are said to be disappointed that the deal didn’t go through as they had needed the money from his sale to make squad amendments for next season. In the meantime, the club have also said they can’t contact the player.
