Germany announces support for UN political efforts in Libya
German Ambassador to Libya Oliver Owcza has said that his country would support the political efforts of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) in the UN Security Council.

Ghassan Salame, special representative of the UN Secretary-General and head of UNSMIL, has been leading mediation efforts in Libya in order to end the country’s political crisis.
Despite a UN-sponsored political agreement late in 2015 and appointment of a unity government, Libya remains politically divided amid insecurity and escalating violence.
