Gebrselassie pledges to reform Ethiopia’s Athletics Federation

Ethiopia’s world-famous athlete Haile Gebrselassie has been speaking out after wining the presidency of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation at the weekend.

The two-time Olympic 10,000m champion was elected on Saturday night after he polled nine out of 15 votes, beating two other candidates. Incumbent EAF president Alebachew Nigusse didn’t seek re-election.

The athlete says he will be focusing on improving systems within in the federation – to ultimately get better results at world events.

CCTV’s Girum Chala sat down with Gebrselassie to discuss his plans.
