Gambians express high expectations as new government prepares to come in

The Gambia is basking under a rare spotlight of international admiration, following its just concluded presidential election.

Incumbent President Yahya Jammeh, who has ruled the small West African nation for 22 years, surprised many observers by conceding defeat in the presidential election, also offering to work with the new leader Adama Barrow.

Hundreds of Gambians thereafter thronged the capital Banjul in wild celebrations.

 

With the poll now done, Gambians are expressing their hope of a better governance and a better economy, security and more.
