The Chief of Defence Staff of The Gambia Armed Forces Ousman Badjie has reaffirmed his unflinching loyalty to President Yahya Jammeh. Badje reassured the President in his New Year letter published in Zambia’s Daily Observer newspaper.
“May I please seize this opportunity to renew to your Excellency the assurance of the unflinching loyalty and support of the Gambia Armed Forces.” Reads the letter
This comes after the West Africa regional bloc ECOWAS leaders threatened to use military force to oust Jammeh if he refuses to step down when his term ends on 19 January.
“In the same vein, please permit me to commend you for your demonstrated personal commitment to The Gambia Armed Forces which is guided by your vision of making The Gambia Armed Forces not only as one of the most developed armies but that which is second to none in the world.” Said Badje in the letter
