Former Zimbabwe’s president Canaan Banana’s son has formed his own party to contest the country’s 2018 elections.

Local media report Nathan Banana to say that his party, the Freedom Justice Coalition of Zimbabwe (FJCZ), is set to be launched at the end of June.

The 49 year old is the third son of the late Canaan who served as Zimbabwe’s first president between 1980 and 1987.

Nathan previously worked in Zimbabwe’s police force and also had a stint in the president’s office.

Through his Facebook page, Nathan said it was a daunting task joining politics.

He, however, said that after six years working from behind the scenes, he was now ready to set up his own political party.

He disclosed that he had set up party structures across the country and had worked with a number of other political parties.
