A former Nigerian minister has been charged with money laundering.
Bello Haliru, a former defence minister, is accused of diverting $1.5m that was meant for the purchase of weapons for soldiers fighting Islamist militant group Boko Haram during the rule of former president Goodluck Jonathan.
Haliru is accused alongside his son Abba Bello Mohammed. The two have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The former minister is said to be unwell, and appeared in court in the capital, Abuja, on a wheelchair on Tuesday.
He and his son are due in court for a bail hearing on Thursday.
