Five lions have escaped the Kruger National park in Mpumalanga province, in eastern South Africa. Residents living near or around the Park have been told to be cautious of the lions on the loose.

Rangers are frantically looking for the escaped lions believed to be roaming the streets and farms in the area close to the Swaziland border.

Brigadier Leonard Hlathi told SABC that people crossing the border on foot in unrestricted areas are most vulnerable to attacks.

“Community members need to be on the lookout. The lions have not been caught and that poses danger because that road is frequented by people… Even people who are driving might want to park their cars to answer the call of nature, that poses a serious danger to them,”police spokesman Leonard Hlathi said.
