Senegal’s football team has arrived in Russia for the FIFA World Cup.
The Teranga Lions arrived in Russia’s western city of Kaluga on Tuesday evening, ahead of their first game scheduled to be played on 19 June against Poland.
Other than Poland, the West Africans are grouped alongside Colombia and Japan.
Led by Premier League stars Sadio Mane, Idrissa Gana Gueye and Cheikhou Kouyaté, the team will be hoping to better the quarter final result they managed from the 2002 tournament.
The 2018 World Cup is only the second time the Teranga Lions have participated in the World Cup.
The Senegalese team is joined by four other teams from the continent; Egypt, Nigeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
No African side has ever gone beyond the quarter final stage of the World Cup, but hopes are high that one of the five sides will break that ceiling.
The World Cup’s opening game will be played on Thursday, pitting host Russia against Saudi Arabia.
The final game will be played on 15 July.
