Paris Attacks, Nov 2015
Then, on the evening of the 13th of November, a series of coordinated terrorist attacks occurred in Paris and the northern suburb of Saint-Denis. Gunmen and suicide bombers hit a concert hall, stadium, restaurants and bars, almost simultaneously- they killed 130 people, hundreds were wounded. French president Francois Hollande described the attacks as an “act of war” organised by the ISIL militant group. French police went on to carry out hundreds of raids across the country. The search for suspects also took place in the Belgian city of Brussels.
Munich scare
On New Year’s eve, police in Munich evacuated two major railway stations after an intelligence agency warned Germany of an imminent attack. Authorities received information that suicide bombers again from ISIL could target the stations.
The European nations are now seeking ways of crushing the vice in the continent. This week, French authorities met with Ismalic leaders on ways of stopping extremism as a way of curbing terrorism in the country.
