EU withdraws election observation mission from Burundi

The European Union has scrapped plans to send observers for next week’s Parliamentary elections.  The EU says its mission would be impossible in the current climate – that opposition is being intimidated and the media suppressed. Opposition parties, too, are boycotting the vote. But the electoral commission says the elections will go ahead. From the capital Bujumbura, Jane Kiyo has this report.
