Eto’o Honoured for Anti-Racism Stand
Perhaps Africa’s greatest ever soccer player, Samuel Eto’o, received recognition in London on Monday for his anti-racism work a day before his birthday.
The Cameroonian was given the European Council Medal of Tolerance award. Eto’o, who retired from international football last year, after a poor world cup, currently plays in Italy for Sampdoria.
He was joined by former Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard and former Portugal international Deco.
Refusing to criticise world governing body FIFA on their handling of the vice in football, Eto’o called for more education instead of extra sanctions on teams or fans.
