Ethiopian Airlines chief executive officer Tewolde Gebremariam on Sunday confirmed that all 157 passengers onboard flight 302 from Addis Ababa to Nairobi had died following a crash early Sunday morning.
Among the casualties were 9 Ethiopians, 32 Kenyans and 8 Chinese nationals.
The plane crashed shortly after taking off from Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa en route to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Family members and friends of those on board the flight were transferred to the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel at JKIA, which had been set up as one of two emergency centers.
The Kenya Red Cross has been providing counselling services to those affected by the crash.
