Tunisian league leaders Espérance were held to a second consecutive goalless draw following a 0-0 result against CS Sfaxien at the Stade Olympique de Radès in Radès on Wednesday.

The result extended Espérance’s unbeaten league run to 19 games and saw them move to 49 points, 11 points clear of Monastir, who defeated Hammam-Lif 3-1 on Wednesday to climb up to second.

Sfaxien, meanwhile, remains in third place on 37 points following a third successive draw since the resumption of the league.

Étoile du Sahel remained in fourth on 33 points after recovering from a two-goal deficit to salvage a 2-2 draw against bottom-of-the-table Bizertin. A penalty by Chiheb Ben Frej and a strike from Zied Ounalli gave Bizertin a 2-0 lead before Ben Frej’s own goal saw the visitors pull one back. Aly Soumah equalized for Étoile while Bizertin had Appolinaire Kack just before the end of the game.

Club Africain failed to capitalize on Étoile du Sahel’s draw as they were also held to a 1-1 draw by JS Kairouan with both goals coming in the first 11 minutes.

Elsewhere, Metlaoui and US Tataouine both secured 2-1 wins against Chebba and Stade Tunisien respectively.

On Wednesday, a goal in each half from Omar Zekri and Fakhreddine Ouji saw Ben Guerdane defeat Slimane 2-0.
