Eight refugees found inside refrigerated truck in Spain

Spanish police have intercepted a refrigerated truck with eight Iraqi refugees in eastern Spanish city of Teruel, police said Saturday.

Among them were four children aged two, five, eight, and 10. They were all in good health, Spanish police told AFP on Saturday.

The refugees were reportedly trying to reach Britain.

None of them carried identification, but police say they were able to determine their nationality.

The truck was carrying two refugee families. It wasn’t immediately clear how long they had spent inside the truck.

The driver, a 37-year-old Romanian national, has since been arrested on charges of human trafficking.

On August 27, the decomposing bodies of 71 people were found inside a truck at the side of an Austrian motorway in a discovery which sparked a horrified response across Europe as it struggles with its worst migration crisis since World War II, Mail Online reports.
