Egypt’s Central Bank hike interest rates to protect Egyptian pound

Egypt’s Central Bank has raised interest rates by 1.5 percentage points in its Monetary Policy Committee.

An interest rate hike had been widely anticipated  in the wake of a sharp devaluation of the Egyptian Pound against the US dollar earlier this week.
