Egyptian President set to visit Kuwait for bilateral talks

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi is scheduled to travel to Kuwait on Saturday for an official state visit, during which he will hold bilateral talks with Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The two leaders’ talks are expected to focus on strengthening cooperation and the latest developments on the regional and international scenes.

The two nations enjoy warm relations that have seen them cooperate on various issues.

The visit by President el-Sisi will be his third to Kuwait since he assumed office in June 2014.

The two leaders will be meeting for the second time this year, having met in February when the Kuwaiti Emir headed a delegation to the first Arab-European Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt.

President el-Sisi is currently in Japan where he is attending the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) which begun on Wednesday.

At the invitation of Japan, the Egyptian leader is co-chairing the Summit alongside Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Various African heads of state and representatives of government are in attendance, including President Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa), President Yoweri Museveni (Uganda), President Uhuru Kenyatta (Kenya), President Muhammadu Buhari (Nigeria), President Paul Kagame (Rwanda), among others.
