Egyptian fronts candidate for UNESCO top position

Egypt has embarked on a massive campaign for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Director General’s position.
The North African country has handed in the candidature of Moushira Khattab for that position, with a total of nine contenders gunning for the job.
Khattab is a former Vice President of the International Bureau for Children’s Rights.
Many Arab countries have pledged to support the Egyptian’s bid, enhancing her chances of winning in the October election.
According to Khattab’s campaign manager Mohamed al Oraby, countries from Asia, Europe and Africa will support her bid.
“Some countries have declared their support for the Egyptian candidate. The announcement was made on their own volition. India is amongst them. There are more nations that support us fully, although they haven’t made it public. They include countries from Asia, Europe and Africa,” he said
