Egyptian football star on the verge of Premier League award hat-trick
Liverpool’s Egyptian sensation Mohamed Salah is on the verge of winning the English Premier League Player of the Month for the third time this season after his outstanding performances in March.
Salah has been nominated for the POTM award alongside David Silva [Manchester City], Romelu Lukaku [Manchester United], Son Heung-min [Tottenham Hotspur], Cenk Tosun [Everton] and Chris Wood [Burnley].
The Egyptian won the award in November and February.
The only other player to have won the award twice this season is Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
Salah made four league appearances for Liverpool in March, scoring six times, including a haul of four goals in a 5-0 thrashing of Watford before the international break.
In total, the 25-year-old has 38 goals in all competitions this season, including 29 in the Premier League where he is the top scorer. He is five goals ahead of the second highest scorer Harry Kane.
His last goal came on Wednesday against Manchester City in the quarter final stage of the Champions League. Liverpool deservedly got a 3-0 lead ahead of next week’s return leg at the Etihad Stadium. The other scorers were Senegalese forward Sadio Mane and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Salah will however have to shake off an injury concern which forced him out of the clash in the early stages of the second half.
Before then however, the Reds play derby rivals Everton on Saturday.
