
Egypt to assist Tanzania to start performing kidney surgeries before 2020
The President of Egypt Abdel El-Sisi Fattah has expressed his country’s willingness to support Tanzania to start performing kidney surgeries before the 2020, reports the Daily News.
Egypt has been assisting the East African nation with medical experts and supplies. President El-Sisi pledged to set up a pharmaceutical factory to manufacture high quality drugs at affordable prices, with the aim of reducing the government spending in imported drugs and other medical supplies.
“Egypt is among countries that manufacture high quality medicines at affordable prices. Through the pharmaceutical industry, Egypt will generate foreign currencies and we will benefit from affordable drugs, employment and revenues,” Tanzanian President John Magufuli explained.
Egypt expressing interest to construct a meat processing factory in the country for slaughtering, packaging and shipping meat to Egypt and other export markets.
The two countries agreed to bolster economic and diplomatic ties after the Egyptian President Abdel arrived in the country yesterday for a two day working visit. The two nations strengthened biletaral agreements in irrigation farming, industrialization and hydro-power generation.
Egypt is also concerned that the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) will have adverse impacts on its downstream hydropower stations and irrigation systems. Egypt failed to readh a concesus on the regulation of the use of Nile waters with the members of Nile Basin-Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Sudan. Tanzania pledged to revive the talks to find the best way for all member states to benefit from the Nile. “We talked about River Nile and engagement of other countries in a win-win situation… we have agreed to revive the talks.
