In a press release on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid said that Egyptian efforts for coordination between the Foreign Ministry, public prosecutor and Antiquities Ministry to restore the relic began in October 2013. There has been coordination with judicial authorities in Geneva and the Swiss federal police, which handed over the piece and turned it in to the embassy.
The drawing was found in 1966 by an Australian mission that was working in the Sakkara area. Its theft was discovered the following year.
