
Egypt becomes first team to be eliminated from 2018 FIFA World Cup

Egypt has been knocked out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup with one game still to play, becoming the first team to be eliminated.
The Pharaohs lost 3-1 to host Russia in their second game, staying at the bottom of Group A. The Egyptians had lost their first game against Uruguay by a solitary goal.
The African side came into the tournament in high spirits, buoyed by the presence of star player Mohamed Salah.
Salah – who sat out the game against Uruguay – scored the Pharaohs consolation game, which was not enough to keep them in the competition.
Russia’s goals came through Denis Cheryshev, Artem Dzyuba and an own goal from Ahmed Fathi
The host’s win ensured they qualified for the quarter finals, becoming the first team to do so.
Egypt still have a game to play, against fellow Arab nation Saudi Arabia.
