Egypt arrests 13 terror suspects allegedly preparing attacks

Read < 1 minute

Thirteen suspected terrorists have been arrested in a crackdown following last week’s killing of over 45 Christians in Egypt’s Tanta and Alexandria provinces

According to Egyptian authorities, the suspects were planning to stage attacks targeting Christians and public institutions.

The arrests come as Christians in the country mark low-key Easter celebrations under tight security.

According to a government statement, security forces have also discovered two farms in Alexandria and Beheira Provinces, where explosives used in the two attacks were assembled.

Egypt is currently under a state of emergency declared by President Abdel Fattah el Sisi, in the aftermath of the attacks.
